Senator Jane Nelson, District 12, Grapevine, Texas has filed  Bill SB 174,  which makes it impossible for the public, including genealogists and family  historians, to access marriage records.  Currently, birth records are sealed  for 50 years, but Bills SB861/HB1778 seek to have them remain closed for 75  years.  This will make it difficult, if not impossible, for some to research  their lineage and family history.
